Cesare Casadei has completed a permanent transfer from Torino to Everton, the Premier League club confirmed on Friday. The move sees the young midfielder return to England, where he began his professional career, after a short spell in Serie A. Financial details of the transfer were not disclosed by either club.
Casadei initially rose to prominence through the youth ranks at Inter Milan before making a move to Chelsea in August 2022. He made seven senior appearances for the Blues, including a Champions League outing, before joining Leicester City on loan in January 2023. The Italy Under-21 international featured 22 times for Leicester in the Championship, scoring one goal, and was a key part of their play-off campaign.
Torino signed Casadei on a loan deal with an option to buy in January 2024, and he made his debut for the club in February, eventually appearing in 13 Serie A matches. While he showed glimpses of his potential in Turin, the opportunity to secure regular first-team football in the Premier League proved too appealing. According to sources in Italy, Torino were unwilling to meet Everton’s demands for a permanent deal.
Everton manager Sean Dyche has been actively seeking midfield reinforcements this summer, and Casadei fits the profile of a dynamic, box-to-box player. The Toffees narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League last season and are looking to build a more competitive squad. The signing of Casadei adds youthful energy and technical ability to their midfield options.
Casadei’s early career was defined by a move to England before fully establishing himself in Italy, and his return to the Premier League represents a significant step in his development. He will be hoping to make a more substantial impact at Everton than he did during his brief time at Chelsea, and the move provides him with a platform to showcase his talent on a consistent basis. This transfer bolsters Everton’s midfield and offers Casadei a chance to develop in a competitive league.
