Manchester United are exploring a potential summer move for AC Milan and United States forward Christian Pulisic, according to a report from TEAMtalk. The club's recruitment department, led by director of football Jason Wilcox and chief Christopher Vivell, is pushing ahead with plans to reshape the attack ahead of the new season, with the 27-year-old winger viewed as a strong candidate.
The report indicates United are targeting a versatile forward as they prepare for the potential departure of striker Joshua Zirkzee. While a final decision on the club's next permanent head coach is pending, recruitment work is progressing independently. Pulisic's tactical flexibility, which has seen him operate across the front line and even as a false nine for Milan this season, is cited as a major attraction for the Premier League side.
Pulisic's contract situation adds a layer of feasibility to any potential deal. The American international has just 12 months remaining on his current deal at the San Siro, with the club holding an option to extend. TEAMtalk understands there are currently no active negotiations over a new contract following initial talks last year, a development that has alerted several clubs to his potential availability in the coming window.
United's interest is reportedly driven in part by Vivell's long-standing knowledge of the player, dating back to Pulisic's emergence as a teenage talent at Borussia Dortmund. After a mixed spell at Chelsea, Pulisic has rebuilt his career in Italy, establishing himself as a key performer for Stefano Pioli's side. His form has reportedly made him a more appealing target for United than his Milan teammate Rafael Leao, who has also been offered to the club.
At this stage, no formal offer has been made to Milan, and United are not alone in monitoring the situation. Several other Premier League sides are also aware of Pulisic's contractual status. The report suggests the move could gather momentum in the coming months as United prioritise adding firepower and depth to their forward line.
Former United goalkeeper Tim Howard recently speculated that Pulisic could return to England and thrive, drawing a parallel to the career paths of Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, who left Chelsea before returning as elite Premier League stars. Pulisic's potential acquisition would represent a significant piece of business for United as they look to build on the early impact of recent signings like Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko.
