Alex Scott has indicated a preference for a transfer to Arsenal this summer, though concerns about guaranteed playing time are reportedly holding up a potential deal, according to the Daily Mirror. The Bournemouth midfielder has become one of the most in-demand players in the current transfer window, attracting interest from several Premier League clubs.
Chelsea recently had a bid of €75million (£64m) rejected by Bournemouth, who are currently unwilling to sell the 22-year-old, as reported by BBC Sport. Arsenal also saw an initial enquiry turned down by the Cherries, while Manchester United are also monitoring the situation. Scott has two years remaining on his current contract at Bournemouth, but has reportedly turned down new contract “offers” from the club, with Bournemouth valuing him at a minimum of €94m (£80m).
Scott’s development at Bournemouth has been significant, playing a key role in the club’s impressive sixth-place finish in the 2025-26 Premier League season, securing qualification for the UEFA Europa League. He has also been involved with the England national team, participating in a pre-World Cup training camp in the United States and being named in Thomas Tuchel’s 55-man provisional squad for the World Cup. He previously captained England’s Under-19 and Under-21 sides to European Championship titles in 2022 and 2025 respectively.
Arsenal are also considering other midfield options, with The Times reporting that Bruno Guimaraes and Ayyoub Bouaddi are among their targets as they seek a flexible midfielder. Manchester United, having already signed Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, are looking to add a third central midfielder to their squad ahead of the 2026-27 season, according to BBC Sport. Scott’s potential arrival at Arsenal would add depth and quality to their midfield options, but the club must convince him of a clear pathway to regular first-team football.
