AC Milan have made contact with Arsenal regarding a potential move for midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, according to reports from Matteo Moretto. The Serie A club, managed by Ruben Amorim, are reportedly keen on signing the young player this summer.
Nwaneri holds the distinction of being the youngest player to ever appear in a Premier League match, having made his debut for Arsenal at the age of 15 years and 181 days. While he has shown promise, opportunities for consistent first-team football at the Emirates Stadium appear limited, leading to speculation about his future. Arsenal are reportedly open to a permanent deal, potentially to facilitate further squad restructuring.
Several other clubs are also monitoring Nwaneri’s situation, with competition coming from the German Bundesliga, specifically RB Leipzig, and Premier League rivals Fulham and Everton. TEAMtalk reported in May that Everton were among the clubs interested, alongside Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Coventry City, and Ipswich Town. Italian side Como were also previously linked, though their interest may have cooled following the re-signing of Nico Paz from Real Madrid.
Moretto reports that Arsenal view Nwaneri as not an ‘untouchable’ player, suggesting they are willing to consider offers for the talented youngster. The club recently allowed Leandro Trossard to depart, and further departures of players like Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli have been speculated. A move to AC Milan would provide Nwaneri with a platform to develop his game in a competitive European league. The potential transfer could allow Arsenal to further invest in other areas of the squad, while giving Nwaneri a clearer pathway to regular playing time.
