Ruben Amorim is poised to become the new manager of AC Milan, with negotiations reaching their final stages according to reports in Italy. The Portuguese coach, recently dismissed by Manchester United in January, has reportedly convinced Gerry Cardinale, the club’s owner, with his vision for the team.
After a lengthy search for a successor to Massimiliano Allegri, Cardinale appears to have settled on Amorim following recent discussions. Bookmakers are reflecting this shift in momentum, with odds for Amorim to join Milan plummeting to 1.85 on major betting sites. This significant drop indicates a strong expectation that the deal will be completed.
Amorim previously enjoyed success at Sporting CP, leading them to a Primeira Liga title – their first in 19 years. However, his tenure at Manchester United proved less fruitful, ending after just over a year in charge. Despite this, his tactical approach, characterized by a high press, aggressive ball recovery, and a proactive, results-oriented mentality, has resonated with the Milan leadership.
The proposed contract is a two-year deal worth €3 million per season, with an option for a third year. Should he accept, Amorim will be tasked with revitalizing Milan and returning them to a position of prominence in Serie A. The appointment signals a clear intent from the club to embrace a modern and ambitious approach to football, potentially challenging for domestic and European honors in the coming seasons.
