Carlo Ancelotti has agreed to continue as manager of the Brazil national team until 2030, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced on May 14, 2026. The extension confirms Ancelotti’s commitment to the Seleção after initially taking the helm a year prior.
Ancelotti began managing Brazil in May 2025, overseeing ten matches, primarily international friendlies, during his first year. A significant portion of his early duties involved assessing the fitness and recovery of key players, notably Neymar, as the team prepared for future competitions. The CBF expressed their satisfaction with Ancelotti’s leadership, emphasizing “commitment, continuity and trust” in his ability to further develop the national squad.
The Italian manager, who previously enjoyed a highly successful spell at Real Madrid, reportedly turned down a potential return to the Spanish capital to remain with Brazil. This decision underscores his dedication to the project with the Seleção and his belief in the team’s potential. Ancelotti himself stated, “More victories, more time, more work,” signaling his ambition for continued success.
Brazil are set to participate in a tournament, facing Morocco, Scotland, and Haiti in the group stage. The extension provides stability as the team prepares for this competition and beyond. The long-term nature of the contract suggests the CBF is building a project around Ancelotti, aiming for sustained success on the international stage. This appointment is seen as a significant step in Brazil’s ambition to reclaim its position as a dominant force in world football.
