Robert Andrich may be on the move from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, with the club reportedly willing to allow the midfielder to depart for a fee of around €10 million. According to BILD, sporting director Simon Rolfes is currently in discussions with Andrich’s representatives regarding a potential transfer.
Eintracht Frankfurt has maintained an interest in the 28-year-old, but Andrich is currently prioritizing an opportunity to secure his place within Xabi Alonso’s squad. The Germany international is reportedly impressing new head coach Carles Martínez during pre-season training and is demonstrating leadership qualities both on the pitch and in the dressing room.
Andrich joined Leverkusen in 2021 from Union Berlin, quickly establishing himself as a key player in midfield. Last season, he made 35 appearances across all competitions, contributing defensively and providing a consistent presence in the center of the park. However, the arrival of Kennet Eichhorn, coupled with the established presence of Exequiel Palacios, has cast doubt on Andrich’s long-term future at the BayArena.
Palacios is currently on a three-week vacation, and Malik Tillman remains on leave, creating a window of opportunity for Andrich to showcase his abilities. The club does not anticipate making a final decision on Andrich’s future until after their training camp in Blankenhain, scheduled for the first week of August. This delay allows Andrich time to further impress the coaching staff and potentially change their assessment of his role within the team.
Should Andrich ultimately depart, it would provide Leverkusen with funds to further strengthen their midfield options, while offering the player a chance to secure regular first-team football. For Frankfurt, acquiring a player of Andrich’s experience and quality would bolster their own midfield ranks as they prepare for the upcoming Bundesliga season.
