Arsenal are in regular contact with the representatives of Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, with the player himself keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The potential transfer is currently contingent on the future of Leandro Trossard, with Besiktas reportedly pushing for the Belgian’s signature.
Arsenal are reportedly viewing Tzolis as a potential replacement for Trossard, should the winger decide to depart. The Gunners won the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final last season, but manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are aiming to further strengthen the squad. They see an upgrade on the left wing as a priority.
Tzolis, a 24-year-old Greece international, enjoyed a productive season with Club Brugge, scoring 22 goals and providing 29 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions. He previously had a spell in England with Norwich City, though it did not yield the same level of success.
Club Brugge are preparing for Tzolis’s potential departure and are seeking a fee that would break the Belgian Pro League transfer record, currently standing at €37.5 million (approximately £32.5m/$43.6m) – the amount AC Milan paid for Charles De Ketelaere in 2022. Sources indicate there is growing confidence that a deal of this magnitude can be reached given the level of interest in the player.
Arsenal initially ‘stepped up their assessment’ of Tzolis back in June, and are now described as ‘confident’ of completing a deal. The move would represent a significant investment for the North London club, but could provide Arteta with a dynamic attacking option on the left flank. Should the transfer materialize, it would become the most expensive outgoing transfer in the history of the Belgian Pro League.
