Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of signing Leicester City’s Jeremy Monga, while Athletic Club winger Nico Williams has stated his desire to remain with the Spanish club despite interest from the Gunners.
According to transfer reporter Nicolo Schira, Arsenal are “one step away” from completing a deal for Monga, an England U19 international. The player has already agreed to personal terms, and a formal announcement is expected soon. It is anticipated that Monga will either be loaned out for the 2026-27 season or will feature prominently for Arsenal’s under-21 side, with limited first-team opportunities initially.
Meanwhile, Nico Williams has publicly expressed his commitment to Athletic Club, indicating he wishes to spend his entire career with the club. Speaking to El Larguero during international duty with Spain, Williams stated his desire to sign a lifetime contract, though he acknowledged that circumstances beyond his control could force a departure. His current contract with Athletic Club does not expire for another nine years, and the club has not indicated any intention to sell. Arsenal had previously been linked with a move for the Spanish international as they search for a new left winger.
Arsenal are also reportedly willing to part ways with midfielder Fabio Vieira, who spent last season on loan at Hamburg. Football Insider reports that Hamburg are interested in a permanent deal, but are only prepared to offer €10 million. Manager Mikel Arteta has no plans to reintegrate Vieira into the first team, making a sale before the September 1st transfer window deadline likely. Nottingham Forest are also said to be monitoring the situation, potentially as part of a deal involving their player Morgan Gibbs-White.
Further bolstering their scouting efforts, Arsenal are preparing an opening bid for FC Kolkheti’s Andria Bartishvili, a Georgian U21 attacking midfielder. BBC Sport reports that the 17-year-old has drawn comparisons to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and has attracted interest from several clubs, including Serie A’s Juventus. Talks are ongoing, but Arsenal face competition for his signature.
