Arsenal and Manchester United are monitoring Bayer Leverkusen forward Kerim Alajbegovic, though Serie A clubs are currently leading the race for the 18-year-old’s signature, according to sources at TEAMtalk.
Alajbegovic is set to officially return to Leverkusen on July 1st after the German club activated an €8 million buy-back clause from Red Bull Salzburg. Despite being poised to sign a five-year contract with Leverkusen, multiple European clubs have expressed interest in the Bosnian international.
The versatile attacker enjoyed a successful loan spell with Salzburg, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists across all competitions. This form earned him a place in the Bosnia and Herzegovina senior squad and a spot in their recent World Cup team. He can play on either wing or as a second striker, demonstrating a skillset that appeals to top-level clubs.
Italian sides Inter Milan, Napoli, and Roma are all showing concrete interest, with Roma reportedly viewing Alajbegovic as a key summer target. Negotiations are being facilitated by the player’s father, Miralem Pjanić, a former Bosnian international himself. Alajbegovic is believed to favour a move to Italy, feeling Serie A would be the most beneficial league for his continued development.
However, interest from the Premier League is growing, with Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Manchester United all having registered their interest and conducted preliminary scouting. Leeds United and Sunderland are also considering a move for the teenager. Arsenal have reportedly already held discussions with Alajbegovic’s representatives.
Leverkusen are intending to integrate Alajbegovic into their first-team squad for the upcoming season, but the club are aware of his growing reputation and the potential for a significant transfer fee. The Bundesliga side are open to selling the player for a fee in the region of €35 million if a suitable offer is received. His rapid development suggests he could become a valuable asset for any club willing to meet Leverkusen’s valuation.
