Arsenal are intensifying their efforts to sign Atlético Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, with a desire to finalize a deal before their pre-season begins on July 20th, according to The Independent. The Argentina international is reportedly open to a move to the Gunners, though he would prefer to remain in Spain, attracting interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid. However, Atletico Madrid are reportedly unwilling to strengthen their direct rivals, potentially clearing a path for Arsenal.
Alvarez has become Mikel Arteta’s preferred attacking target, and the club is now pushing to reach an agreement, though advanced negotiations may be delayed until after the World Cup. The 24-year-old forward has been a consistent performer for Atletico, contributing goals and assists in La Liga, and would add a dynamic attacking option for Arsenal. His current Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is listed at €103.7 million, with a range of €93.4 million to €114.1 million.
In other transfer news, Chelsea are continuing discussions with representatives of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, as reported by CaughtOffside. Interest from Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly cooled, leaving Chelsea as one of the primary suitors. Despite Chelsea’s attention, it is suggested that Wharton is likely to remain at Crystal Palace for the time being.
Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has reportedly agreed in principle to join Paris Saint-Germain, according to transfer reporter Nicolo Schira, signing a five-year deal. This move could facilitate departures from PSG, with Bradley Barcola potentially being allowed to leave, alongside reported interest in Yan Diomande and Maghnes Akliouche. Elsewhere, Manchester United will receive a fee exceeding £10 million from a sell-on clause as Mason Greenwood completes a move from Marseille to Fenerbahce, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
Roma have set a price of €55 million for midfielder Manu Kone, attracting interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, according to Corriere dello Sport. The report notes that €50 million will not be sufficient to secure the France international’s signature. Several other transfer rumours were also reported, including Arsenal’s interest in Real Sociedad’s Mikel Oyarzabal and Bayern Munich’s desire to extend Harry Kane’s contract.
