Arsenal have entered the competition to sign Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United, according to a report from FootMercato. The Gunners, led by sporting director Andrea Berta, are now vying with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Paris Saint-Germain for the Netherlands international.
Summerville is expected to depart West Ham following their relegation from the Premier League last season. He initially joined the Hammers for £25 million from Leeds United two years ago and established himself as a key player, contributing five goals and two assists in the Premier League during the 2023-24 campaign.
The interest from Arsenal comes amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian winger has seen his playing time shared with Leandro Trossard, with Trossard making almost twice as many Premier League starts as Martinelli last season, leading to speculation about a potential departure. Reports have even suggested a possible swap deal involving Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, though the Red Devils are also pursuing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and Crysencio Summerville himself.
Arsenal have already begun exploring other attacking options, holding discussions with Club Brugge regarding their winger Christos Tzolis, who has an impressive goal-scoring record with 43 goals in 108 appearances. They are also reportedly accelerating their pursuit of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, although he is primarily viewed as a No.10 rather than a wide player. The addition of Summerville would further strengthen Arsenal’s attacking options, particularly on the left flank, complementing Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke on the right.
The growing competition for Summerville suggests a potentially high transfer fee, but his performances for West Ham have demonstrated his Premier League quality. Securing his signature would provide Mikel Arteta with a versatile attacking option as he looks to build on Arsenal’s recent Premier League title win.
