Arsenal are reportedly optimistic about signing both Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United and Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa this summer, provided they pursue both deals with significant effort, according to sources close to the club. The Gunners have long monitored Guimaraes, viewing him as an ideal partner for Declan Rice in midfield.
Initial reports suggested a fee of around £50 million might be enough to secure the Brazilian, however, Newcastle are expected to demand a considerably higher sum, reportedly insisting he is not for sale. Guimaraes himself is believed to be keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium and has reportedly been given assurances by the Newcastle hierarchy that he would be allowed to depart. Recent claims suggest a transfer could cost between £80 million and £90 million.
Alongside the pursuit of Guimaraes, Arsenal also consider Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers a priority target. Manager Mikel Arteta is a strong admirer of the England international, and the club are prepared to make an aggressive push for his signature despite Villa potentially demanding a fee of £130 million. Rogers is also said to be receptive to a move to north London and the opportunity to work with Arteta.
However, securing Rogers will be challenging, as Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is determined to retain him, particularly with anticipated departures of Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne. Arsenal’s summer transfer plans are also contingent on player sales, with Leandro Trossard nearing a move to Besiktas and further departures expected. Other players, including Ben White, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli, could also be moved on.
Arsenal are mindful of not disrupting Rogers’ involvement in the World Cup, where he is part of the England squad. They plan to finalize any deal for him after the tournament concludes. While formal approaches for both Rogers and Guimaraes are yet to be made, Arsenal are well-positioned to pursue a combined £220 million double transfer in the coming weeks.
