Arsenal and Manchester City are both hesitant to meet Newcastle United’s valuation of full-back Tino Livramento, according to TEAMtalk. While both clubs remain admirers of the 22-year-old, concerns over his recent injury record and Newcastle’s high asking price have led them to explore alternative options.
Livramento has impressed since joining Newcastle, establishing himself as a promising young talent in the Premier League and earning a call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup. Both Arsenal and Manchester City view him as one of the best young full-backs in European football.
However, Newcastle are reportedly seeking a fee that could exceed the current world record for a right-back, which stands at £58 million paid by Paris Saint-Germain for Achraf Hakimi in 2021. This valuation reflects the club’s high opinion of Livramento and their reluctance to lose a key player.
Further complicating a potential deal are concerns regarding Livramento’s fitness. He started only 14 Premier League matches last season due to a series of injuries, including issues with his knee, thigh, and hamstring. These fitness concerns have become a significant factor in the recruitment discussions at both Arsenal and City.
Despite these reservations, neither club has completely ruled out a move for Livramento. They continue to believe in his potential and ability to contribute to a title-challenging side, but are unwilling to meet Newcastle’s current demands. As a result, they are actively pursuing alternative targets, including Brazilian duo Wesley and Vanderson, as well as Italian international Marco Palestra and Sporting defender Ivan Fresneda.
Interestingly, Arsenal and Manchester City are aligned on several of these alternative options, potentially leading to a competitive transfer market. Newcastle, for their part, appear relaxed about the situation and are under no pressure to sell, having recently secured a significant fee for Anthony Gordon from Barcelona. The club believes that Livramento’s value will only increase if he can overcome his injury issues.
