Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is expected to sign a new contract with the club before the start of pre-season, according to sources speaking with TEAMtalk. The news comes after a successful season for the Gunners, culminating in a Premier League title – their first since 2004 – and a Champions League final appearance.
Despite losing the Champions League final to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Arsenal’s hierarchy are keen to reward Arteta for his achievements. Transfer insider Graeme Bailey reported in January that discussions regarding a new deal had already begun between sporting director Andrea Berta and the manager.
Arteta has reportedly been pleased with the support he has received from Berta, and is content with his position at the Emirates Stadium. Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed on his YouTube channel that conversations between the club and Arteta are ongoing, with further talks planned following the conclusion of the season.
Bailey has now indicated that Arsenal are eager to finalize the agreement before the team begins pre-season preparations. Sources have informed him that Arteta is also happy at Arsenal and has no intention of seeking a move elsewhere this summer. The club’s progress, both on and off the pitch, is a key factor in the positive outlook, with alignment between the owners, the hierarchy, Arteta and his staff, and the playing squad.
Bailey highlighted the club’s success in retaining key players like William Saliba and Bukayo Saka as evidence of the positive environment created by Arteta. He believes securing a new deal for the manager is a priority, and anticipates it will be completed in the coming weeks. Arteta’s commitment is seen as crucial for continuing the club’s upward trajectory and building on the foundation laid this season.
