Aston Villa are poised to sign Joao Gomes, Johan Manzambi, and Joao Palhinha in a combined outlay exceeding £105 million, according to TEAMtalk. The club has agreed terms with Wolves for Gomes and has initiated discussions with Bayern Munich regarding a move for Palhinha, adding to the impending arrival of Swiss midfielder Manzambi from Freiburg.
Villa sources have confirmed that Gomes and Manzambi are scheduled to undergo medicals before the weekend, with the club optimistic that Palhinha will follow shortly. A club-record fee of over £50 million is expected to be paid for Manzambi, while the deal for Gomes is valued at approximately £35 million. Villa are hoping to secure Palhinha for around £20 million.
The potential acquisitions come as Villa seek to strengthen their midfield following a season-ending knee injury to Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans’ transfer to Manchester United. Manager Unai Emery is being heavily backed in the transfer market to address the midfield shortage.
Joao Gomes, 25, has consistently been a standout performer for Wolves despite the club’s overall struggles, earning 10 caps for Brazil. Joao Palhinha, 31, is seen as a shrewd defensive addition, having impressed during a loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur last season, though the London club opted not to make the move permanent. Palhinha previously spent two seasons with Fulham before joining Bayern Munich, where he struggled for consistent playing time.
Johan Manzambi, 20, has emerged as a key target, with Villa successfully competing with Newcastle United for his signature. The Swiss international has already earned 16 caps for his country and brings valuable Bundesliga experience from his time at Freiburg. These signings would significantly bolster Villa’s midfield options ahead of the upcoming campaign, adding a blend of Premier League experience and promising young talent.
