Aston Villa are exploring a potential summer move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos, according to analysis from data experts SciSports. The 24-year-old Portugal international is seeking a transfer to secure more regular playing time after struggling to fit into manager Luis Enrique's system at the Parc des Princes. His agent, Jorge Mendes, is reportedly in discussions with clubs, including those in Italy, with Villa emerging as a recommended destination.
The analysis, reported by FootballTransfers, gives Aston Villa a Club Fit score of 87 for Ramos, the highest possible rating, suggesting the move would be an excellent match for both player and club. The score is based on factors including development potential, playing time, and tactical fit. Villa reportedly scored strongly across the board, with playing time being a particular highlight, while the playing style match was rated slightly lower.
Ramos joined PSG from Benfica in 2024 for a fee of €65 million and has since scored 45 goals in 127 appearances for the French champions. Despite this return, he has found himself on the periphery this season, prompting his desire for a fresh challenge. Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio told TMW that Ramos "doesn’t have much in common with Luis Enrique’s philosophy and tactics" and that Mendes is working to find a club where his client can be a starter.
For Aston Villa, managed by Unai Emery, a move for Ramos would represent a significant investment to bolster their attacking options, particularly if they secure Champions League football for next season. The club's current primary striker, Ollie Watkins, has carried a heavy goalscoring burden, and SciSports predicts Ramos would eventually become a stronger option. The analysis also suggests Ramos would be a substantial upgrade on backup option Tammy Abraham.
The financial aspect remains a key hurdle. Villa have faced Financial Fair Play constraints in recent windows, but Ramos's Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is now listed at €41 million, a notable drop from his purchase price, potentially bringing him within reach. His style differs from Watkins's high-pressing game; Ramos is often deployed as a mobile or shadow striker at PSG, a role that has taken him away from the central focal point of the attack.
A successful deal would offer Ramos a chance to reignite a career that has stalled in Paris, while providing Villa with a high-calibre alternative and competitor for Watkins. The move is framed as a transformative opportunity for both parties as the summer transfer window approaches.
