Atalanta have announced the appointment of Michele Sbravati as Director of Technical Area and Player Development within their youth sector, effective July 1st. The move is part of a wider restructuring of the club’s leadership, following the departure of D’Amico and the arrival of Cristiano Giuntoli as the new sporting director. Sbravati joins Atalanta after two seasons at Juventus, where he held the position of Youth Football Director.
Atalanta released a statement confirming the appointment, highlighting Sbravati’s extensive experience in youth development. The club emphasized that he will work closely with Roberto Samaden, the current Director of the Atalanta youth academy, to further strengthen the club’s youth system. This appointment signals a clear intention from Atalanta to invest in and improve their youth setup.
Sbravati’s career spans over two decades, most notably with Genoa, where he spent 21 years, including 18 as Head of Youth. His track record includes identifying and nurturing numerous young talents, establishing him as a highly respected figure in Italian youth football. His arrival at Juventus in July 2022 saw him oversee the development of young players within the club’s academy.
The Percassi family, Pagliuca, and the entire Atalanta club have welcomed Sbravati, wishing him success in his new role. This appointment is particularly noteworthy given Atalanta’s recent success in developing and selling young players, with a strong academy being central to their business model. Sbravati’s expertise is expected to further enhance this capability, ensuring a continued pipeline of talent for the first team and potential future transfer revenue.
