Atalanta have relieved Raffaele Palladino of his duties as head coach, the club announced on their official channels. The decision extends to Palladino’s entire coaching staff, including Stefano Citterio, Federico Peluso, Fabio Corabi, Nicola Riva, Mattia Casella, Andrea Ramponi, and Andrea Berti. Atalanta thanked Palladino and his team for their dedication, wishing them well in their future endeavors.
Palladino took over as manager on November 11th, 2025, replacing Ivan Juric. He successfully steered the team away from a potential relegation battle, securing a seventh-place finish in Serie A and ensuring Atalanta’s qualification for the Europa Conference League for a ninth consecutive season. Despite the positive league performance, the club also experienced disappointment in cup competitions, falling in the Coppa Italia semi-finals and reaching the round of 16 in the Champions League.
According to reports, the club is preparing to announce Maurizio Sarri as Palladino’s replacement in the coming days. Sarri, formerly of Lazio, will reunite with Cristiano Giuntoli at Atalanta, with Giuntoli, the club’s sporting director, already identifying potential transfer targets. Nicolò Savona is reportedly a key player on Giuntoli’s radar as he looks to strengthen the squad.
Sarri is expected to sign a contract worth €3.5 million per year, running until 2029. The appointment of Sarri signals a shift in tactical approach for Atalanta, as the former Napoli and Juventus manager is known for his possession-based style of play. This move aims to build upon the foundation laid by Palladino while adding a distinct tactical identity to the team.
