Barcelona is preparing a renewed bid for Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries, according to reports in Italy. The Catalan club previously expressed interest in the Netherlands international, and the possibility of a transfer is now gaining traction as Inter assesses its squad ahead of next season.
Dumfries, who joined Inter in 2021, has been a consistent performer for the Nerazzurri, featuring in 33 Serie A matches last season. However, Inter may be open to selling the 28-year-old to bolster their transfer budget, particularly given the financial constraints facing many Italian clubs. Dumfries’ contract includes a release clause of €25 million, valid until mid-July, which Barcelona could activate.
While Dumfries is reportedly content in Milan and showcased his abilities on the international stage at recent tournaments, the allure of playing for Barcelona could prove tempting. Inter’s sporting director, Piero Ausilio, along with CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director Dario Baccin, were notably absent from the Champions League final, reportedly due to past memories, highlighting a potential shift in focus towards restructuring the squad.
Beyond Dumfries, Alessandro Bastoni has also attracted attention, with Real Madrid emerging as a potential suitor. The Spanish giants, under the prospective management of José Mourinho, could attempt to lure Bastoni away from Inter. However, Bastoni has repeatedly expressed his loyalty to Inter and recently reaffirmed his commitment to the club, despite a difficult end to the season marked by criticism from fans.
Inter is also considering offers for Yann Bisseck, with Bayern Munich showing interest in the defender. A sale in the region of €40-50 million could be considered, though it would necessitate further defensive reinforcements. The club is actively pursuing options, including Atalanta’s Marco Palestra, and is also in talks with Liverpool regarding Curtis Jones. Inter is aiming to strengthen its squad after reaching multiple finals in recent years, and player sales would provide crucial funds for new signings.
