Barcelona have completed the signing of Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon for a reported €80 million, as the 2026 summer transfer window officially opens for business in several European leagues. The deal represents a significant investment by the Catalan club as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the upcoming season. According to sources at TransfersDaily, Gordon has agreed to a five-year contract with Barcelona.
Gordon, 23, joined Newcastle from Everton in January 2023 for a fee of £40 million, and quickly became a key player for Eddie Howe’s side, contributing with goals and assists. However, Barcelona’s offer proved too lucrative for both the club and the player to refuse. The move allows Gordon to experience football in La Liga and compete at the highest level.
Real Madrid have also been active, securing Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella for €55 million. Los Blancos have further bolstered their squad with free transfers of Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva and Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate. An agreement is reportedly in place to sign Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries, and they are also pursuing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. These moves signal a clear intent from Real Madrid to build a formidable team under Jose Mourinho.
In the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur have been particularly busy, bringing in Brighton & Hove Albion’s Jan Paul van Hecke for €60 million, alongside free signings Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka. Liverpool have moved to replace Konate by agreeing a €63.6m transfer for Stade Rennais' Jeremy Jacquet, a deal initially agreed during the winter transfer window. Chelsea have also been active, acquiring Geovany Quenda, Denner, Dastan Satpaev, and Emmanuel Emegha, with Marco Palestra and Valentin Barco expected to follow from Atalanta and Strasbourg respectively.
Elsewhere, Leeds United are nearing the signing of Fulham’s Harry Wilson on a free transfer, while Manchester City are poised to break their club record to secure Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. Yan Diomande is reportedly favouring a move to Paris Saint-Germain over a potential transfer to Liverpool. Several smaller deals have also been confirmed across Europe, including Frank Onyeka’s move from Brentford to Coventry for an undisclosed fee, and Ben Godfrey’s loan move from Atalanta to Rangers.
