Juventus are considering the sale of Andrea Cambiaso, with both Barcelona and Chelsea expressing interest in the 23-year-old full-back. The move is part of a wider effort by the newly appointed Juventus CEO and Sporting Director, Giovanni Carnevali, to generate funds through player sales following the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Cambiaso, who joined Juventus in 2022, is valued at €40 million, representing a significant potential profit for the Turin club who initially signed him for a reported €6 million. Despite being highly regarded by current Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti, who has praised his all-round ability, the club are open to offers that would strengthen their financial position.
Barcelona have been monitoring Cambiaso’s situation for several months, while Chelsea recently sold Cucurella to Real Madrid and may be in the market for a replacement. Chelsea’s manager, Xabi Alonso, was previously linked with Cambiaso during his time at Real Madrid. Carnevali has a pre-existing relationship with both clubs stemming from his time at Sassuolo, potentially facilitating negotiations.
Should Cambiaso depart, Juventus are exploring several replacement options. Sporting Director Marco Ottolini has suggested Djed Spence of Tottenham Hotspur, a player he previously worked with at Genoa. Spalletti favours Emerson Palmieri, currently at Marseille, whom he previously managed at Roma. Carnevali is also considering a move for Matteo Ruggeri, to bolster the Italian contingent within the Juventus squad. Juventus are also in talks with Atletico Madrid regarding Sorloth and Nico Gonzalez, but face competition and a valuation exceeding €20 million for both players.
The potential sale of Cambiaso would provide Juventus with crucial funds to reinvest in the squad, allowing Spalletti to pursue his desired reinforcements as he begins his tenure in Turin.
