Liverpool’s pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola has been given renewed encouragement after Fabrizio Romano refuted suggestions the player would favour a move to Arsenal this summer. The 23-year-old’s future at the Parc des Princes is uncertain following PSG’s recent acquisitions in attacking positions, including Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doué and Ousmane Dembele.
TEAMtalk reported on June 30th that Liverpool had made fresh contact with PSG regarding a potential transfer for Barcola. While initial reports indicated Arsenal as the frontrunners, with claims of a potential £100m-plus deal, Romano asserts the situation remains open. He explained that Barcola is not actively pushing for either club at this stage, with his focus currently on international duty with France at the World Cup.
Romano highlighted that PSG are willing to consider a significant offer for Barcola, though they would prefer to retain his services. He emphasized that the player is not considered ‘untouchable’ by the club, especially with his contract set to expire in two years. This provides both Liverpool and Arsenal with a potential opportunity to secure his signature, should they meet PSG’s valuation.
Arsenal’s priority currently lies with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, but the Gunners may revisit their interest in Barcola if a deal for Rogers fails to materialize. Liverpool, however, view Barcola as their top target for a winger. The player himself has remained evasive when questioned about his future, stating his sole focus is on representing France. This ambiguity further fuels speculation surrounding a potential move to the Premier League.
Recent reports suggest Arsenal are also pursuing central midfield options, including Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle United, while Liverpool are exploring midfield targets following the appointment of a new manager. The coming weeks are expected to be crucial in determining Barcola’s destination.
