FC Bayern Munich have submitted a €32million offer for 21-year-old midfielder Gabriel Bontempo, according to Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte. The offer has been made to FC Santos, where Bontempo has developed through the youth ranks and established himself as a key player in recent seasons. The potential transfer comes as Bayern prepare for potential departures in midfield this summer.
Santos are reportedly holding out for a fee of at least €49million for the versatile Brazilian, who can play multiple positions in the middle of the park. While this represents a significant gap between offer and asking price, the Brazilian club are under pressure to generate revenue due to their current financial situation, making a sale potentially more likely. Santos are seriously considering offers for Bontempo as a result.
Bayern are anticipating the exits of Nöel Aséko and João Palhinha during the upcoming transfer window, creating a need for midfield reinforcement. The German champions have already invested heavily in new signings this summer, with left-back Nathaniel Brown and attacking midfielder Ismael Saibari combining to cost over €100 million. This existing expenditure may influence their willingness to meet Santos’ higher valuation.
Bontempo’s emergence in Brazil has attracted attention from several European clubs, and a move to one of the continent’s top leagues was widely anticipated. He has demonstrated considerable quality in his native Brazil, and Bayern see him as a potential long-term addition to their squad. Should a deal be agreed, Bontempo would add depth and versatility to Bayern’s midfield options. The transfer could provide a platform for the young Brazilian to showcase his talents on a larger stage and further develop his game under the guidance of Bayern’s experienced coaching staff.
