Bayern Munich have expressed interest in FC Twente centre-back Ruud Nijstad, according to TEAMtalk. The 18-year-old Dutchman has emerged as a target for several top European clubs following a breakthrough season in the Eredivisie.
Nijstad made 21 league appearances for Twente last season, scoring one goal and establishing himself as a regular starter. His ability to play out from defence and his aerial prowess have drawn attention from across the continent. While earlier links to clubs like Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City have cooled, Bayern are now actively monitoring his progress.
Competition for Nijstad is significant, with multiple Premier League clubs also keen on the young defender, attracted by his potential to adapt to the physical demands of English football. Serie A sides are also reportedly showing concrete interest. Eintracht Frankfurt are currently considered the frontrunners, with the German club preparing a first bid to secure his signature.
Twente have already rejected an offer of between €5-6 million from PSV Eindhoven, but PSV remain in contact with the club. Twente are understood to value Nijstad at between €8-10 million, and are under pressure to sell as the player enters the final year of his contract. They have offered Nijstad a contract extension, but it has yet to be accepted.
Nijstad is described as a physically and technically developing player with top-level attributes for his age. His next destination, whether it be remaining in the Netherlands, moving to the Bundesliga, or testing himself in the Premier League or Serie A, is expected to be decided in the coming weeks. His potential has clearly been recognised by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and the coming weeks will determine his next step.
