Reports linking Bayern Munich with a move for PSV Eindhoven right-back Sergiño Dest are inaccurate, according to Sky Germany. Recent speculation suggested the Bundesliga champions were considering Dest as an option alongside PSV teammate Ismael Saibari, but these claims have been dismissed by the German broadcaster.
Sky Germany state the rumours are “wide of the mark”, indicating Bayern Munich are not currently pursuing the American international. This news comes as Bayern assess their options at right-back ahead of the new season, but appear content with their existing personnel.
Bayern already have Konrad Laimer available, and the club are reportedly looking to extend his contract beyond its current 2027 expiry date. Furthermore, Josip Stanišić also represents a viable option in that position. Stanišić spent the second half of the 2025/26 season on loan at Galatasaray, but remains a Bayern player.
Adding to the depth, Bayern have not yet offloaded Sacha Boey, the French right-back who was also on loan at Galatasaray last season. The club are also nearing the acquisition of Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt, a left-back who can offer cover on the right side of the defence if required.
Dest joined PSV from Barcelona in 2023, initially on loan before making the move permanent. The 24-year-old has made 35 appearances for PSV across all competitions, contributing with one goal and three assists. He has 32 caps for the United States national team, and was part of their squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Bayern’s decision not to pursue Dest suggests they are satisfied with their current options and incoming signing Brown, potentially limiting opportunities for the American in Bavaria. This likely means Dest will remain with PSV for the foreseeable future, continuing his development in the Eredivisie.
