Bayern Munich are strategically positioning themselves for a future transfer of RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande, according to TEAMtalk. The Bundesliga champions’ long-term interest in the 19-year-old could influence his decision regarding a potential move this summer, particularly with Liverpool also monitoring the Ivory Coast international.
Diomande has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Leipzig following his arrival from Leganes last summer, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists across all competitions. His performances have led to comparisons with Erling Haaland, with Leipzig and the wider Red Bull organisation now considering him their most promising emerging talent since the Norwegian’s time at Red Bull Salzburg.
Liverpool have identified Diomande as a potential long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, and have held talks with the player’s representatives. However, Leipzig’s current valuation of around €100million (£87m) presents a significant obstacle to any immediate deal. The Reds’ recruitment team have been diligently compiling reports on Diomande, acknowledging the limited amount of high-level football he has played to date.
Despite interest from other Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, Diomande is reportedly increasingly inclined to remain at Leipzig for at least another season. He is said to be enjoying his time in Germany and thriving within the Red Bull system, with those close to him believing his development is progressing rapidly. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed interest, but are considering a move in 2027.
Bayern’s interest is partially influenced by the future of Michael Olise, currently a key player for the club. While Bayern maintain Olise is not for sale, they are aware of potential interest from other European giants. Diomande is seen as a potential successor to Olise, fitting the profile of a “next generation” attacker capable of reaching an elite level. Leipzig, meanwhile, are relaxed about the speculation and are prepared to offer Diomande a new contract to keep him at the club, believing he is central to their future plans.
