Bayern Munich have agreed a deal to sign Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven, according to Sky Sports. The Moroccan international midfielder will join the Bundesliga champions on a five-year contract, following a prolific season in the Eredivisie.
Saibari, 25, enjoyed a breakout campaign with PSV, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists across all competitions. His performances have attracted significant interest from across Europe, with Bayern ultimately securing his signature. The transfer fee is reported to exceed €50 million, though the exact figure remains undisclosed.
Saibari currently represents Morocco at the World Cup, where he recently scored against Brazil in a demonstration of his technical ability – a goal which Sky Sports suggests may have been a deciding factor for Bayern’s hierarchy. He is expected to feature in Morocco’s upcoming fixtures against Scotland on Friday and Haiti on June 25th.
Prior to joining PSV, Saibari progressed through the youth ranks at several Dutch clubs, including Sparta Rotterdam and Jong PSV. He established himself as a key player for PSV last season, showcasing his versatility and attacking prowess from midfield. His ability to both score and create goals makes him a valuable addition to Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
The move addresses Bayern’s need for creative midfield options, following a season where they struggled for consistency in attack. Saibari’s arrival will likely provide competition for places in the Bayern midfield and offer Tuchel greater tactical flexibility. The signing signifies Bayern’s intent to strengthen their squad ahead of a challenging Bundesliga title defence and their pursuit of Champions League success.
