Mohamed Bayo is the subject of interest from several European clubs, including VfB Stuttgart and SC Freiburg of the Bundesliga, according to Foot Mercato. The 27-year-old forward is currently on loan at Turkish Süper Lig side Gaziantep FK from LOSC Lille, where he has rediscovered his goalscoring form. Interest also extends beyond Germany, with Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, Lazio and Celta Vigo all reportedly monitoring the Guinea international’s situation.
Bayo joined Lille in 2022 for a fee of €14million, but struggled to consistently impact the team during his time in France. He made a limited number of appearances and failed to replicate the form he had previously shown. As a result, Lille opted to loan him to Gaziantep FK for the 2023-24 season, hoping for a change of scenery to revitalize his career.
At Gaziantep FK, Bayo has flourished, becoming a key player for the eleventh-placed team. He has scored 14 goals in 30 appearances, demonstrating a return to the form that initially attracted Lille’s attention. This resurgence has now prompted interest from clubs across Europe, eager to secure his services.
Gaziantep FK are expected to activate their €4million purchase option this summer, but it is widely believed that this is a strategic move to facilitate a subsequent sale for a higher fee. The Turkish club recognizes Bayo’s increased value and anticipates being able to profit from his performances. A quick resale would represent a significant return on investment for Gaziantep FK. The potential for a profitable sale will likely influence their decision-making process in the coming months.
Should Bayo move on again this summer, his next destination could offer him a platform to compete in a top-five European league, potentially fulfilling his initial promise. The interest from established Bundesliga clubs suggests a desire for a proven goalscorer, and Bayo’s recent form makes him an attractive option.
