Bernardo Silva is reportedly on the verge of a move from Manchester City to Barcelona, with a broad agreement now in place between the player and the Catalan club. According to reports from Spain, the transfer is considered 80% complete, dealing a significant blow to Juventus, who had also shown strong interest in the Portuguese midfielder. The final approval for the deal now rests with Barcelona's new head coach, Hansi Flick.
Silva, who has been a key figure for Manchester City since joining from Monaco in 2017, is said to be willing to accept a substantial salary reduction to facilitate the move. Reports indicate he would earn less than half of his current City wages to join Barcelona, underlining his desire for a new challenge at the Camp Nou. The 29-year-old playmaker has won multiple Premier League titles and the Champions League during his seven-year spell in Manchester.
The transfer, however, is contingent on player sales at Barcelona. Sources indicate Flick is open to signing Silva, but only if departures are confirmed in the midfield department. As it stands, Silva would be the sole acquisition in that area of the pitch for the Blaugrana this summer. This condition adds a layer of complexity to the operation, which must be resolved before the move can be finalized.
While Barcelona appears to be the clear frontrunner, Turkish giants Galatasaray have also entered the race. According to Turkish media, Galatasaray's management, via agent Jorge Mendes, has prepared a lucrative three-year contract offer worth a total of 50 million euros to lure Silva to Istanbul. The club's ambitious project, which includes retaining key players and building a squad capable of competing in the Champions League with names like Leroy Sané and Ilkay Gundogan, is designed to attract top talent.
Despite the significant financial offer from Turkey, Silva's preference is believed to remain a move to Barcelona, keeping him at the pinnacle of European football. Juventus, which had been the most serious contender aside from Barcelona, now finds its path to signing the player increasingly complicated. The potential acquisition of Bernardo Silva would represent a major coup for Barcelona as they look to rebuild under Hansi Flick, while Manchester City would lose a versatile and experienced attacking midfielder who has been instrumental in their recent dominance.
