Besiktas have registered their interest in Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, according to L’Équipe. The Turkish club are seeking a high-profile addition in the goalkeeping position and have begun exploring a potential deal for the 24-year-old Frenchman. Chevalier’s future at PSG remains uncertain as he awaits clarity regarding the club’s plans for him next season.
Chevalier is currently on holiday, but his representatives are reportedly fielding inquiries from other clubs while his situation in Paris is unresolved. Besiktas have reportedly made initial contact to gauge the player’s interest and assess the feasibility of a transfer. While the report does not mention a fee, Chevalier is currently under contract with PSG until 2030, suggesting any deal would likely command a significant fee.
Tottenham Hotspur were also linked with a move for Chevalier in recent weeks, indicating a wider European interest in the young goalkeeper. The report suggests that despite potentially lucrative wage offers from clubs in Istanbul, Chevalier would likely favour a move to a club offering a more appealing sporting project. He established himself as a regular starter for Lille before joining PSG, and will likely seek similar opportunities elsewhere.
Chevalier joined PSG in July 2023 from Lille, where he had risen through the youth ranks to become a key player. He has made 34 appearances for PSG across all competitions, demonstrating his ability at a high level. Competition for places at PSG is fierce, however, with other established goalkeepers on the roster, potentially limiting his opportunities for regular first-team football. Should Chevalier depart, it would leave PSG seeking a replacement to provide competition and depth in the goalkeeping department.
Besiktas finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season, and are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign. Adding a goalkeeper of Chevalier’s calibre would represent a significant coup for the Istanbul club and bolster their ambitions to challenge for the title.
