Juventus are actively working to reduce the size of their squad, with several players who featured in Saturday’s match against Basel potentially departing in the coming days, ideally on permanent deals. This is according to reports in the Italian media, with the club hoping to generate funds from sales to reinvest in strengthening Luciano Spalletti’s team.
Colombian defender Juan Cabal is among those facing a possible exit, with Turkish side Besiktas expressing interest in acquiring the 24-year-old. Negotiations are underway to determine the terms of a transfer that could see Cabal move to Istanbul.
Vincenzo Italiano, the manager of Besiktas, is reportedly keen on bringing Cabal to the club. A loan deal with an option to buy is currently being discussed, though this could become an obligation depending on certain conditions being met, such as Cabal reaching a specified number of appearances or Besiktas qualifying for the Champions League. Talks are ongoing, with an agreement potentially reached as early as this week.
Alongside Cabal, Juventus are also considering departures for other defenders. Daniele Rugani is another central defender attracting interest, with Italian clubs Monza and Bologna both monitoring his situation. Rugani, a veteran presence, is seeking regular playing time and a prominent role in his next destination. Fiorentina previously considered a permanent deal for Rugani, but ultimately did not trigger the option to buy, falling just one appearance short of completing the transfer.
Juventus are also open to offers for Joao Mario, with Fiorentina again showing interest. Fabio Paratici, Fiorentina’s sporting director, is looking to reinforce the squad ahead of potential departures and views Mario as a suitable option. While Juventus would prefer an obligation to buy, Fiorentina are currently proposing a loan with an option. A compromise will need to be reached for a deal to materialize.
