Besiktas, now managed by Vincenzo Italiano, are reportedly interested in acquiring several players deemed surplus to requirements at Juventus, according to reports in the Italian press. The arrival of Italiano at the Turkish club has opened up unexpected market opportunities for Juventus as they look to trim their squad and balance the books.
Besiktas’s new ownership has pledged over €150 million for summer transfers, aiming to restore the club’s competitiveness domestically and return to the Champions League after a five-year absence. Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo is the first player identified as a potential target. Currently on loan at Gremio until June 30th, a permanent return to Brazil is considered unlikely due to his high salary (€5 million gross) and existing book value (€6.5 million). These financial obstacles would not be present in a move to Turkey.
Italiano is known to be a fan of Arthur, having previously managed him during the Brazilian’s time at Fiorentina. In Italiano’s second season with the Viola, Arthur was a key figure in midfield, making 48 appearances and contributing 6 goal involvements. Despite this impressive form, Fiorentina did not exercise their €20 million release clause at the time.
The Turkish club have also enquired about Douglas Luiz, who is set to return to Juventus following disappointing loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa. Manager Massimiliano Allegri intends to evaluate Luiz during pre-season, but Besiktas remain interested. Additionally, Besiktas have gathered information on goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, who Juventus have made available for transfer this summer. Juventus officials are hopeful that Italiano’s presence at Besiktas will facilitate these potential moves.
