AFC Bournemouth are currently the frontrunners to sign David Raum from RB Leipzig, should the left-back choose to depart the Bundesliga club this summer, according to Sport Bild. The 27-year-old has one year remaining on his current contract, creating uncertainty over his long-term future with Leipzig.
The potential move is significantly influenced by the appointment of Marco Rose as Bournemouth’s new manager. Rose previously managed Raum at RB Leipzig, and their existing relationship is believed to be a key factor in Bournemouth’s pursuit. Raum is reportedly attracted to the prospect of playing in the Premier League, which could further incentivize a transfer.
Raum joined RB Leipzig in 2021 from Hoffenheim, quickly establishing himself as a regular starter and eventually earning the captaincy. He has made 93 appearances for the club across all competitions, contributing with 13 assists. He has also been a consistent presence in the German national team, earning 13 caps and representing his country at the 2022 World Cup.
His form for Leipzig has been generally solid, though he faced some criticism during the latter part of the 2023-24 season as Leipzig finished fourth in the Bundesliga. A strong showing at the upcoming international tournament with Germany could increase his market value and potentially attract interest from other clubs. Raum has indicated he intends to discuss his future with Leipzig officials following the tournament.
RB Leipzig appear to be preparing for a potential departure, with Max Finkgräfe identified as a possible replacement. The club has not yet confirmed any discussions with Bournemouth, and Raum’s final decision will be crucial. Should Raum move to the Vitality Stadium, he would likely become a key component of Rose’s rebuilding project at Bournemouth, adding experience and attacking threat to their left flank.
