West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen is expected to stay with the club this summer, despite their recent relegation from the Premier League, according to comments made by Danny Dyer, Bowen’s father-in-law.
Bowen, an England international forward, had been linked with several top-flight clubs including Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Liverpool, but a move now appears unlikely as the Championship season approaches. Dyer stated on talkSPORT that he believes Bowen will remain at the London Stadium, praising his loyalty and predicting he will excel in the Championship.
Bowen enjoyed a productive season for West Ham, scoring nine goals and providing 11 assists in 38 Premier League appearances. He signed a contract extension in 2024 that is set to run until 2030, further solidifying his commitment to the club. Despite being omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s England World Cup squad, Bowen remains a highly-rated player.
Chelsea, who were reportedly interested in Bowen as a potential attacking reinforcement, will now need to pursue alternative targets. Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa has been identified as a top target, but Arsenal are currently leading the race for his signature, and his valuation is proving problematic for the Blues. Other potential options, such as Eli Junior Kroupi of Bournemouth and Bradley Barcola, face complications with other clubs also vying for their services or potential roadblocks in negotiations with their current employers.
The decision by Bowen to remain at West Ham provides stability to the club as they aim for an immediate return to the Premier League. For Chelsea, it necessitates a shift in their transfer strategy as they continue their search for attacking reinforcements.
