Bremer Reflects on Juventus Season and Personal Ambition Ahead of Milan Clash
Juventus defender Bremer has outlined his desire to return the club to its trophy-winning ways, stating the team has "floated for six years" and that must change. The Brazilian centre-back, 29, addressed the media in a pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's Serie A fixture against AC Milan, a match he described as crucial for securing Champions League qualification.
Bremer, who joined Juventus from Torino in 2022, expressed a personal urgency to win silverware, telling reporters, "I am 29 years old and I do not have so much time left, I want to win." He acknowledged that despite the team's recent improvement and climb into the Champions League places, the current campaign cannot be considered positive, citing early exits from the Coppa Italia and the Champions League itself as significant regrets.
The defender credited manager Luciano Spalletti, whose contract was recently renewed, for the team's growth, noting the benefit of a single weekly match for implementing the coach's methods. He contrasted Spalletti's proactive style with that of former Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri, now in charge of Milan, whom he praised as a great manager who improved the team defensively during his tenure in Turin.
Bremer also discussed his own journey back to full fitness following a serious ACL injury last season, revealing he sought advice from Juventus legends Alessandro Del Piero and Giorgio Chiellini. "Alex became what he is after this injury," Bremer said, according to reports from the press conference. He emphasized the lengthy physical and mental recovery process, which he is still navigating, but stated he is on the right path.
On the pitch, Bremer has been a stalwart, contributing four goals and three assists this season while forming part of a defence that has tightened considerably since the start of the campaign. He attributed this defensive solidity to increased understanding with fellow defenders Tiago Kalulu, Kelly, and Federico Gatti, as well as the consistent weekly training schedule.
Looking ahead, Bremer was cautious about immediate title ambitions, suggesting it is too early to declare Juventus as Scudetto contenders for next season. He deflected questions about potential transfer targets, specifically regarding a move for his international teammate Alisson, stating that while the Liverpool goalkeeper is world-class, such decisions are for the club to make. With five league games remaining, Bremer's immediate focus is on securing a victory against Milan to all but guarantee a return to Europe's premier club competition.
