Bryan Song, son of former Cameroon international Rigobert Song, has signed his first professional contract with FC Metz. The defender has agreed to a three-year deal with the Ligue 1 club, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
Song, who plays as a centre-back like his father, joined Metz’s youth setup during the 2023 offseason after beginning his formation at Paris FC. He spent two years in pre-formation with the Paris club before moving to the Moselle region. He was recently integrated into the first team squad this summer and has also represented Cameroon at the Under-23 level.
Rigobert Song enjoyed four seasons with FC Metz between 1994 and 1998, winning the Coupe de la Ligue in 1996 and finishing as Ligue 1 runners-up. Bryan’s signing represents a continuation of family ties with the club and a promising addition to their defensive options.
The move provides Song with the opportunity to establish himself in professional football within a familiar environment, given his father’s history with the club. For Metz, it represents the culmination of their youth development program, with ten young players having signed professional contracts in recent months. This latest signing bolsters their squad depth as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming Ligue 1 season and potentially beyond.
