Bundesliga clubs eye Estoril's ever-present defender Felix Bacher
Felix Bacher, the Austrian defender for Portuguese side Estoril Praia, has emerged as a summer transfer target for clubs in Germany's Bundesliga and Italy's Serie A, according to Sky Germany journalist Dennis Bayer. The 25-year-old central defender, who is the only outfield player in Portugal's Primeira Liga to have played every minute this season, has publicly expressed his openness to a move to one of Europe's top leagues.
In an interview with Sky Sports Austria, Bacher indicated his preferred destinations should a transfer materialize. "I can't name a specific club that would appeal to me right now, but of course the top five leagues appeal to me," he said. "Especially Germany, England, or Spain, which would suit my playing style very well." The comments have fueled speculation linking him with a move away from Estoril, where he has become a defensive mainstay.
Bacher is no stranger to German football, having previously spent time with SC Freiburg's reserve team. He made 23 appearances for Freiburg II and was part of the squad that won the Regionalliga Südwest title, giving him a foundational understanding of the league now reportedly interested in securing his services. His consistent performances in Portugal have now put him back on the radar of clubs in major European competitions.
Any club wishing to sign Bacher will need to meet Estoril Praia's valuation. According to a report from Portuguese newspaper Record last December, the club would only consider offers starting at €5 million for their key defender. This fee reflects his importance to the team; his status as an ever-present figure highlights his reliability and fitness, attributes that are highly valued in any potential suitor's defensive line.
For Bacher, a move to a league like the Bundesliga represents a logical next step in his career development, offering a higher competitive platform. For interested clubs, he presents a proven, physically resilient defender with prior experience in Germany and a relatively modest price tag in the current market. The coming months will determine if the concrete interest from Bayer's sources materializes into an official approach for the Austrian international hopeful.
