Morgan Rogers is poised to complete a British record move to Chelsea for a reported £138 million, while Anthony Gordon has officially joined Barcelona from Newcastle United for €80 million, as the summer transfer window continues to see significant activity.
Chelsea have been among the busiest clubs, adding Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha, Dastan Satpaev and Denner to Xabi Alonso’s squad alongside the impending arrival of Rogers. The Blues have also been active in outgoings, selling Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid, Andrey Santos to Manchester United, and Tyrique George to Everton. Young players Jesse Derry and Harrison Murray-Campbell have departed on loan to Sporting CP and KV Kortrijk respectively.
Arsenal have secured Piero Hincapie on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell, and added Illan Meslier on a free transfer from Leeds United. They were unsuccessful in their pursuit of Rogers, however, have agreed terms to sign Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis. Tottenham Hotspur lead the spending charts with a total outlay of €267 million, bringing in Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka following consecutive 17th-place Premier League finishes.
Manchester City, under new manager Enzo Maresca, have invested in Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a club-record fee, alongside Mathys Detourbet, Jeremy Monga, and Pierce Charles. Manchester United have added Youri Tielemans, Karl Darlow, and Tynan Thompson to their ranks, while Liverpool have strengthened their squad with Osasuna winger Victor Munoz and Stade Rennais defender Jeremy Jacquet. Additionally, Liverpool have secured the signing of 17-year-old Samuel Martinez from Atletico Nacional, who will join their academy.
Elsewhere in Europe, Bayern Munich have completed a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown, and AC Milan have signed PSG centre forward Goncalo Ramos for €74 million. Real Madrid have also been active, acquiring Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries. Several smaller deals were also completed across the top five European leagues, including Kayne van Oevelen moving from FC Volendam to Ipswich, Lassine Sinayoko joining Paris FC from Auxerre, and Tariq Lamptey returning to west London with QPR on a free transfer.
These moves signal a period of significant investment and restructuring for many of Europe’s top clubs as they prepare for the upcoming season.
