AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale spent Sunday at the club’s training centre, Milanello, holding meetings with manager Paulo Amorim and the club’s sporting directors to discuss potential transfer activity, according to reports in Italy. Cardinale arrived at Milanello around 9:00 am local time, greeting the squad before observing training and then participating in a lunch meeting with directors Almstadt, Gardiner, Lomonte, Kirovski, and Vergine, alongside Amorim.
This visit comes after a period of restructuring at Milan following their failure to qualify for the Champions League on May 25th. Since then, Cardinale has taken a more central role in the club’s operations and has already invested 100 million euros in new signings Gonçalo Ramos and Luka Jović. Further additions to the squad are anticipated, but the club will likely need to generate funds through player sales to finance them.
Several players are reportedly available for transfer, including Rafael Leão, Fodé Ballo-Touré, Mateo Giménez, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Niccolò Ricci. However, the club is hesitant to sell Estupiñán, with Amorim wanting to evaluate the player in training before sanctioning a departure. Reports also suggest that Cardinale is actively pursuing the signing of veteran midfielder Luka Modrić, with a contract extension potentially being announced soon.
Cardinale will not accompany the team on their upcoming tour and will conduct further discussions with Amorim via telephone. Amorim departed Milanello around 1:30 pm, signing autographs for fans, while Cardinale remained to continue conversations with club officials. The meeting signals a continued commitment from RedBird Capital to strengthening the Milan squad under Amorim’s leadership, aiming to return the club to Champions League contention.
