Milan winger Christian Pulisic is set to remain with the Rossoneri despite reported interest from Roma and clubs within the City Group, according to reports in Italy. The club’s owner, Gerry Cardinale, and sporting director Zlatan Ibrahimovic are both keen for the American international to be central to the team’s future plans.
Pulisic has been in impressive form for the United States at the Copa America, scoring and assisting in their opening match against Panama. This performance has reportedly attracted attention from Serie A rivals Roma, managed by Daniele De Rossi, and the City Football Group, who could potentially offer Pulisic a move to New York City FC. However, Cardinale views the 25-year-old as not only a talented player but also a valuable ambassador for the club.
The former Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea player endured a somewhat underwhelming first season with Milan following his arrival last summer, failing to consistently replicate the form he had previously shown. He struggled to find the back of the net regularly, raising questions about his impact. However, his recent displays for the USMNT suggest a return to his best, and he appears to be thriving in a more prominent role.
Pulisic briefly suffered a minor calf injury during the match against Panama, which led to a precautionary substitution. Both the player and coach Gregg Berhalter have downplayed the severity of the issue, but his fitness will be closely monitored ahead of the United States’ next match against Australia. Despite the minor setback, Pulisic’s performances have been a major boost for Milan, and Cardinale’s commitment to keeping him at the club signals a belief in his potential to become a key player for the Rossoneri as they look to rebuild after a disappointing campaign.
