Giovanni Carnevali has identified a new goalkeeper and a striker as Juventus’s primary transfer targets in his first public appearance as the club’s Chief Executive Officer. Speaking at an event marking the opening of the transfer window in Rimini, Carnevali outlined the club’s approach to the summer market, acknowledging the significant responsibility that comes with the role.
Carnevali emphasized the need for patience and a measured approach, stating the club must “avoid mistakes and do things the right way” given Juventus’s stature. He confirmed that securing reinforcements in goal and up front are the immediate priorities, but stressed that further squad building will be required around those key additions.
Regarding specific targets, Carnevali acknowledged ongoing discussions with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a potential move for striker Randal Kolo Muani, noting that previous difficulties in negotiations are being addressed. He also mentioned Argentina’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as a potential option, but clarified that the club is evaluating several goalkeeping candidates, including Vicario, without an immediate need to finalize a deal.
The Juventus CEO also addressed speculation surrounding several other players. He stated that the club currently has no plans to re-sign Dusan Vlahovic, despite the player’s quality, and is monitoring the situation of 19-year-old defender Giorgio Muharemovic, in whom the club retains a 50% ownership stake. Carnevali also dismissed recent reports of a potential swap deal with Inter involving Nicolò Frattesi and Andrea Cambiaso, stating that no discussions have taken place.
Further, Carnevali commented on the futures of midfielders Miretti and defender Lucumí, who have been linked with a move to Bologna. He expressed the club’s belief in Miretti’s potential and indicated that a sale is unlikely at this time, while acknowledging Lucumí’s release clause of €28 million. Finally, Carnevali also confirmed the club is in preliminary talks with Genoa regarding young forward Jeff Ekhator, with the possibility of including Juventus Next Gen player David Puczka in the deal.
