New Juventus Chief Executive Officer Giovanni Carnevali is scheduled to meet with manager Luciano Spalletti in Forte dei Marmi this weekend, following initial phone conversations, to discuss the club’s future strategy. Carnevali, who recently took on the role, is expected at the Juventus training center, known as the Continassa, early next week to begin meetings with staff and collaborators.
The meeting between Carnevali and Spalletti is anticipated to focus on club organization and the roles of various staff members, aiming to streamline operations and avoid redundancies. Both men, experienced figures in Italian football – Carnevali is 67 and Spalletti is 65 – recognize the urgency of rebuilding the team and making effective decisions. While Carnevali will have final say, Spalletti will be involved in shaping the squad.
Central to these discussions will be the transfer market, with Spalletti acknowledging the need to potentially sell key players to fund new acquisitions. Three players are currently being considered as potential departures: Bremer, Cambiaso, and Thuram. Young forward Kenan Yildiz is considered untouchable, with Jeremie Boga as his backup. Juventus are open to negotiating sales if offers are deemed suitable, and will also reassess players who were previously loaned out.
Spalletti has reportedly ruled out giving further opportunities to players who underperformed last season, including Openda, David, and Koopmeiners. The club intends to bring in at least two high-profile international players to improve the squad's quality and experience, prioritizing a goalkeeper and a striker. Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez and RB Leipzig’s Alexander Sorloth are currently leading candidates for those positions, ahead of Jan Oblak and Dusan Vlahovic.
Juventus are also looking to add promising young players who could become future national team regulars. Potential targets include Federico Chiesa, Randal Kolo Muani to bolster the attack, Habib Diarra for the midfield, and Amar Muharemovic to compete with Lucas Lucumì at center-back. Further discussions between Carnevali and Spalletti could reveal additional transfer targets as they work to reshape the Juventus squad.
