Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is set to join Inter Miami this summer, according to sources at TEAMtalk. The Brazilian has decided he prefers a move to Major League Soccer over offers from clubs in Europe, the Middle East, and his native Brazil.
Casemiro departs Old Trafford after four seasons, having scored a career-high nine goals last campaign and contributed to United finishing third in the Premier League. He departs with a strong reputation after previous successes with Real Madrid. The 34-year-old has been a key figure in midfield for both clubs.
Despite interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, Qatari sides, and teams in Brazil, Casemiro has specifically requested a transfer to Inter Miami. He is attracted by the project being built in Florida and the opportunity to play alongside Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suarez, forming a star-studded squad.
TEAMtalk reports that Casemiro has rejected approaches from other MLS clubs, including LA Galaxy, who hold his discovery rights. However, sources indicate that an agreement between MLS clubs will be reached to facilitate the move to Miami. Inter Miami are confident of finalizing the transfer ahead of next season.
Casemiro’s camp is hoping the deal will be completed before the start of the summer’s World Cup finals, although the tournament’s North American location reduces the urgency. Inter Miami view Casemiro as a significant signing, capable of adding leadership and quality to their midfield.
For Manchester United, Casemiro’s departure will free up approximately £350,000 per week in wages as manager Michael Carrick reshapes the squad. The club is now focused on finding a suitable replacement, with suggestions that a new midfielder could make them a stronger title contender.
