Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed that Timothy Chandler has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2027. The announcement came on Thursday afternoon, securing the future of the experienced defender with the Bundesliga side.
Chandler’s association with Frankfurt spans back to his childhood, having joined the club’s youth academy at the age of ten and progressing through all age groups. He has since amassed 199 competitive appearances for the Hessen giants, becoming a mainstay in the squad over multiple seasons. His most recent appearance came on the final matchday of the 2023-24 Bundesliga campaign against VfB Stuttgart.
The 36-year-old, a former USA international, will continue to contribute on the pitch while also taking on new responsibilities off it. As part of the contract extension, Chandler will participate in the club’s professional training camp, gaining experience in various organizational areas. This move signals a transition towards a potential future role within the club structure.
Sporting director Timmo Hardung praised Chandler’s influence, stating he is “an important player and a valuable team member in many respects.” Hardung highlighted Chandler’s role as a role model for younger players, emphasizing his professionalism and positive attitude. He further noted Chandler’s experience and strong identification with Eintracht Frankfurt as key factors in the decision to offer an extension.
Chandler’s continued presence provides valuable squad depth and leadership for coach Adi Hütter as Frankfurt prepares for the 2026-27 season. The extension demonstrates the club’s commitment to retaining experienced players who embody the values of the organization, and potentially preparing him for a future coaching or administrative position.
