Chelsea have reached a full agreement to sign Strasbourg midfielder Valentín Barco, marking the first acquisition of the Xabi Alonso era at Stamford Bridge. The Argentinian midfielder will remain within the BlueCo group, having previously impressed during his time with Strasbourg after joining from Brighton and Sevilla. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barco opted for Chelsea despite interest from a German club, drawn to the project and the opportunity to work under the incoming manager.
Romano also provided updates on several other transfer situations, beginning with Bayern Munich’s stance on Michael Olise. Despite speculation linking the Frenchman with a move to Real Madrid, Bayern have no intention of selling him, and José Mourinho’s presence at the DFB-Pokal final was unrelated to a potential transfer. Bayern president Uli Hoeneß has reportedly confirmed Olise is not for sale at any price, dismissing any suggestion of a bid exceeding €200 million.
Manchester United are actively pursuing midfield reinforcements, with both Ederson of Atalanta and Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United identified as targets. United’s representatives have been in Italy discussing potential deals, but Tonali’s price tag remains a significant obstacle. Ederson, however, is reportedly keen on a move to Old Trafford and is prioritizing a transfer to the Premier League club, though a formal offer is still pending.
Additionally, United are monitoring Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest, though they face competition from Manchester City, who have long been interested in the player. Forest are expected to demand a fee exceeding £100 million for Anderson, and City are prepared to meet that valuation. United are also considering potential outgoings, with Manuel Ugarte told he is free to leave the club to create space for new signings. Rasmus Højlund has already completed a permanent move to Napoli for a fee of €44 million. The club is also open to offers for Casemiro as they look to reshape their midfield options this summer.
