Chelsea have been among the most active clubs in the opening days of the 2026 summer transfer window, completing a deal to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a reported €138m (£117m). The move comes as new manager Xabi Alonso looks to reshape the Blues’ squad following the conclusion of the World Cup. Alongside Rogers, Chelsea also secured Marco Palestra from Atalanta for €55m (£47m), further bolstering their midfield options.
Chelsea’s activity wasn’t limited to incomings, however, as Marc Cucurella made a permanent move to Real Madrid, alongside Andrey Santos to Manchester United and Tyrique George to Everton, generating approximately €146m (£124m) in transfer revenue for the club. Alejandro Garnacho also departed Stamford Bridge, joining Aston Villa on loan with a conditional obligation to buy.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been significant spenders, backing manager Roberto De Zerbi with a total outlay of €269m (£229m). Jan Paul van Hecke arrived for €61m (£52m), while Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes followed for €108m (£92.5m) and €99m (£85m) respectively. De Zerbi also added experience to his squad with free signings of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Manchester City completed the signing of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for €136m (£116m), adding to their acquisitions of Mathys Detourbet (€25m/£20.4m) and Jeremy Monga (€14.1m/£12m). Arsenal brought in Christos Tzolis for €40m (£34m) and Illan Meslier on a free transfer, while Liverpool secured Victor Munoz from Osasuna for €40m (£34m) and Samuel Martinez from Atletico Nacional for around €879,000 (£750,000). Manchester United have signed Youri Tielemans for €41m (£35m) and Karl Darlow on a free transfer.
Outside of England, Barcelona have added Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for €80m (£70m) and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund for €22m (£18.7m), rising to €29m (£24.75m). Real Madrid have brought in Denzel Dumfries (€20m/£17m), Ibrahima Konate (free) and Bernardo Silva (free) alongside Cucurella. Serie A side AC Milan have signed Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain for a club record €70m (£60m).
