Chelsea have received a boost in their pursuit of Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers as Arsenal have reportedly been deterred by Villa’s asking price, according to a report from Ben Jacobs. The 23-year-old England international is expected to feature prominently at the upcoming World Cup and has attracted interest from several top clubs.
Rogers was a key contributor to Aston Villa’s Europa League triumph on Wednesday, but the club may need to sell players to maintain compliance with financial regulations. The Telegraph reports that Rogers is the most likely star to depart Villa Park this summer. He has enjoyed a productive season, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions.
Aston Villa initially sought a fee of around €115 million for Rogers, but have since lowered their valuation to approximately €90 million, acknowledging that reaching their initial asking price is unlikely. Despite signing Eberechi Eze last summer, Arsenal had also been linked with a move for Rogers, but have now been “put off” by the price tag.
With Arsenal’s apparent withdrawal, Chelsea find themselves with less competition for Rogers’ signature. The Blues are committed to supporting manager Xabi Alonso in the transfer market ahead of the 2026-27 season and view Rogers as a priority target to strengthen their attacking options with a proven Premier League performer. Chelsea have already confirmed the signings of Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha, Dastan Satpaev, and Denner, with a deal for Strasbourg midfielder Valentin Barco also nearing completion.
Should Rogers join Chelsea, he would become Alonso’s first major signing at Stamford Bridge. The potential arrival of Rogers comes amid speculation surrounding the future of Enzo Fernandez, with reports suggesting his final appearance for Chelsea may have been in Sunday’s match against Sunderland.
