Chelsea are continuing discussions with representatives of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton as they consider a summer transfer, according to CaughtOffside. Interest from Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly cooled, leaving Chelsea as one of the primary suitors, although a deal is not yet certain and Wharton may remain at Crystal Palace beyond the September 1st transfer window deadline.
Wharton, who plays as a central midfielder, established himself as a key player for Palace last season, demonstrating his passing range and defensive work rate. A move to Chelsea would offer him the opportunity to compete at a higher level and potentially feature in Champions League football, should the club qualify.
Meanwhile, Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho has been transfer-listed and is not currently training with the first team, the Daily Mail reports. The Argentina international struggled to make an impact following his move from Manchester United last summer, and the club have agreed to facilitate a sale before the start of the new season. It is reported that Garnacho does not feature in manager Xabi Alonso’s plans, and several Champions League clubs are rumoured to be interested.
Chelsea are also evaluating alternative attacking options, with Crysencio Summerville of West Ham United under consideration, as reported by Italian publication Il Resto del Carlino. While Morgan Rogers is their primary target, Arsenal are currently leading the race for his signature, prompting Chelsea to explore other possibilities. Summerville is expected to depart West Ham following their relegation to the Championship, with Manchester United also linked.
Striker Liam Delap, however, is reportedly determined to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place, according to Simon Phillips. Despite scoring only one Premier League goal in his debut season, Delap has expressed his desire to remain with the club, even as rumours suggest Chelsea may look to sell either him or Nicolas Jackson this summer. His commitment could influence Alonso’s plans for the forward line.
