Chelsea have initiated discussions with the representatives of Sporting CP centre-back Ousmane Diomande, according to reports from Flavio Costa. The Ivory Coast international has been a long-term target for several Premier League clubs, with Sporting reportedly willing to consider offers around €60 million despite an €80 million release clause.
Alongside Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also engaged in preliminary talks with Diomande’s camp. Chelsea are actively seeking to reinforce their central defence and have consistently been linked with the 25-year-old, who has established himself as a key player in Portugal’s top flight. Diomande’s strong physical presence and ball-playing ability make him an attractive option for multiple top European clubs.
Liverpool have also entered the race to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs, as reported by CaughtOffside. The 23-year-old Netherlands international has impressed in his first season at the Stadium of Light, attracting attention from several clubs, including Chelsea. Liverpool’s interest stems from potential uncertainty surrounding Alisson’s future, with the Brazilian reportedly open to a move to Juventus this summer. Sunderland are expected to demand a fee in the region of €40 million for Roefs.
Xabi Alonso has reportedly agreed to become Chelsea’s new head coach, with an official announcement anticipated shortly. The Spaniard has committed to a four-year contract following a meeting in London last week. Alonso was identified as Chelsea’s primary target following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior in April. One of his initial tasks will be to assess the future of Nicolas Jackson, who has struggled during a loan spell with Bayern Munich despite previously being highly regarded by the club.
Werder Bremen director Clemens Fritz has confirmed ongoing interest in Chelsea target Karim Coulibaly, though no formal offers have been received. The 18-year-old defender is expected to move this summer, with Bremen hoping to secure a club-record fee of around €50 million. Chelsea and PSG are among the clubs linked with a move for the promising young defender. Fritz also suggested a potential loan-back arrangement could be considered, allowing Coulibaly to continue his development with Bremen for another season.
